Care & Maintenance

Bergamo Design hardware is made from solid brass and, across selected collections, paired with natural marble, timber, leather and crystal. Simple, material-appropriate care helps preserve the finish while allowing natural materials to age as intended.

Solid brass and metal finishes

For everyday care, wipe hardware with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth and dry the surface afterwards. Avoid abrasive pads, scouring products, acidic cleaners and harsh chemical sprays, which can dull or alter the finish. Natural changes in patina on living finishes are expected with handling and age.

Leather

Dust leather-wrapped hardware with a soft, dry cloth. Light marks can be lifted with a lightly damp cloth. Avoid solvents, abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals and soaking the leather. Genuine leather will soften, mark and darken with use; this natural patina is part of the material.

Marble

Wipe natural marble with a soft, damp cloth and dry afterwards. Avoid abrasive pads, acidic products and harsh chemical cleaners. Marble is a natural stone, so veining, tone and pattern vary between pieces and are not considered defects.

Timber

Use a soft, dry or barely damp cloth on timber hardware. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals and prolonged moisture. Natural timber grain and tone vary from piece to piece and can mellow with age and light exposure.
